Receiving a sample is an important step before placing a production order. But don't only ask: "Does it look good?" A sample should help you find problems before they become problems in production. Here are five things worth checking.
1. Functions
Test the functions you actually expect your customer to use. Check whether the product operates as expected and whether the controls are easy to understand. If something feels unclear or inconvenient, raise it before approval.
2. Appearance and Finish
Look beyond the overall shape. Check the color, surface finish, gaps between parts, buttons and other visible details. Compare them with what was agreed with the supplier.
3. Accessories
Make sure all required accessories are included and suitable for your market. Depending on the product, this may include charging cables, adapters, attachments, storage parts or other accessories.
4. Branding and Packaging
If the sample includes customization, check the details carefully. Is the logo correct? Is the position right? Are the packaging design, labels and product information what you approved? Small mistakes are much easier to correct before production.
5. User Experience
Finally, use the product like your customer would. Hold it. Charge it. Turn it on. Change the settings. Pack and unpack it. A product can meet the specification and still feel inconvenient in real use.
Don't Approve a Sample Too Quickly
Before saying "sample approved," make a clear list of anything that needs to be changed and confirm those points with your supplier.
